When asked for personal, Mr. Larsen vey humbly stated:

I have been involved with the sport of powerlifting starting in 1979. I have lifted and refereed in 4 organizations. I was state chair of Mass, when a group of us got together and talked about trying to go back to the AAU wear it all began, Since that time I have served in every position on the executive committee that I have been asked to fill including Vice Chair for 12 years. Records I have a bunch, titles yes a few of them also. These are what we lift for and give personal satisfaction. That which really matters is the knowledge and legacy we pass on in this sport

We wish to thank you on behalf of Allan Siegel and myself
for inducting us into the AAU Powerlifting Hall of Fame. This honor is
deeply appreciated both by me and the Siegel family. As prior
recipients of the Brother Bennett Award, it is
also a pleasure to be acknowledged with such august company
as Gorden Santee and my friend Bob Cortes.

It was an auspicious event when I brought Powerlifting (drug
free) back to the AAU with the great support of co-founders
Larry Larsen, John Ford, Ricky Crain and others. However, it
was the charisma of our first Chairman, Al Siegel that led
the way to our success, starting with his holding the first
new AAUPL meet in 1994. In our first full year, we
sanctioned 116 meets under his leadership. Al's true legacy
was his introduction and insistence on the RAW Division,
amid much resistance and criticism. He stood his ground and
today his efforts have born fruit, witness to RAW as the
fastest growing segment of the sport. My personal wish is
that the AAU and other organizations would acknowledge and
give Al long overdue credit for this achievement. This is
especially true as RAW has been such a monetary success in
these rough economic times. Rest in peace Al, you
did well, very well.
